Betrayal at Calth: Cataphractii Terminators magnetized

Hi guys,
it was an hell of a job but I assembled and magnetised the 5 Cataphractii Terminators and all their weapon options:

This kit is awesome, many options full of details. The only problem is that it comes with only 5 pairs of shoulder pads

In the end, after many failed attempts, I pinned the shoulder pads to the arms:

As I was already working on Terminators I've cleaned up Captain Aethon and glued a couple of bits. The main body is keep together only by blue tack as I want to paint it in sub-assemblies (the same goes for the Terminators heads)

And now is time to move to the, ehm..., 30 Tactical Marines ^^;

  1. I see A LOT of magnets here. So how did you solve the shoulderpads problem?

I've magnetized my dreaddy - 3 magnets in total, it was quite simple, I might start painting him today:P

    1. Almost 40 magnets! Insanity....

In the end I've put a pin in each shoulder pads and drilled holes in the arms. You can see the detached shoulder pads in the 4th picture. To get them all to align correctly was a really FUN process... :D

I still have to magnetize mine. I was so exited by the model that I rushed things a bit and so I have to put magnets in the already build body. Another fun project :D

Looking forward to see your painted :)

    2. 40... wow, that's a lot:P I didn't notice these pads on that picture - awesome work:P

Ah, now that might be a problem to magnetize this model - thankfuly I thought about it before I glued the right "armsocket" to the body:D

Now I need to scan assembling instruction for my friends so they would know how to make legionaries - by the way I think I'll scan cards and maybe some parts of the book to translate it for them as well (GW has stopped tramslating things to polish and it caused some problems to my friends).

I hope I'll start painting the dreadnought today:P

  3. Hey! How is the Progress so far?:D I have finished my dreadnought two or three days ago and yesterday I started painting the rest of the terminators. FW has sent me a mail today that my shoulder pads are on the way now:D

I hope I'll finish termies today so I could take some photos of them and post it online:)

    1. Hi there! I started to work on the Tacticals but I'm waiting for some FW bits too ;) More or less playing around with the bases right now and I'm thinking to move back to the 25mm ones

Looking forward to see your Termies painted :)

    2. Hm, somehow I can't reply on my mobile phone so I had to wait until I got back home:P

25? I think 32 are more appropiate for Marines, this make them look bigger, 25 is good for cadians, eldars etc:P

I should post my dreadnnought today with mayve a pic of terminators progress:)

    3. Yeah I known but I'm trying to scenic bases for the 10 good guys like the ones I've made for the Termies and the 32mm base is a bit too large for the terrain pieces

Just saw the dread on your blog: very nice job man!

    4. Thanks:)

Aaah, I see, well, that will be interesting for sure :D

So, 10 "good guys" - who will they be? And the bad guys?

    5. Nothing fancy, the good guys (I've finally decided for Blood Angels) will get a base similar to the Termy one, just smaller. For the EC I'm thinking abount rocky bases to keep them in line with Fulgrim model ;)

    6. Fulgrim you say...oooh, are you planning to buy his model (or maybe you got him already?)

    7. Yup, it's on my to-buy list :D One of the best looking Primarchs in my opinion

  4. Obce again I cant reply on mobile so I'll just add another comment:P yes, I agree, I would love to have Fulgrim myself. But I thought about buying Ferrus:P but I doubt it that I would do it someday because its sooooo expensive. (but still... It would be awesome!)

    1. Don't worry, It's not like I'm drowing in comments around here ^^;

Yes I really like that model, it's one of reason I've chosen the EC ;) That and because the first army I've started is Eldar and I like to pair enemies up :D

Ferrus got a cool model too but I don't like all the tool on his back ahahah

Yeah they should really cut prices a bit.. :(

    2. Also Eidolon looks awesome, and Kakophoni:D

I like Ferrus and his backpack - I like anything martian associated:P

Ehhh, I can't paint right now, I have such a mess here that I can't find any space to work ;/

    3. I have mixed feelings about Eidolon I'm not sure if I like it or not. But the Kakophoni I definitively don't like :DD

Ahahaha. Yeah I like the AdMec very much too. I'll probably get some skiitari / fw mechanicus in the future. But those bundle from GW are tempting ahaha

I known your pain, I keep reorganizing my work space (my desk..) but I end up with a total mess every time and just a little space to work in lol

If all goes well this weekend I will try and paint a test model for the EC: I just got this idea of a metallic / purple armour .. :D

    4. I have a unit of Skitarii Rangers - I have to finish it some day, I've made 5 out of 10 so far. I bought them few days before official release :P

    5. That's another awesome range of minis. I've watched a BR the other day of AdMec vs Eldar and it featured an awesome AdMec army (and the guy was doing very well with it despite some very bad rolling)

Last night I've made some progress on the tacticals, they are almost done :) Quick-update post coming right now :D

    6. AdMech have some good rules and weapons - I love them. I need to finish my rangers and then get vanguard or maybe Onegar <3

      Or ruststalkers :3

      My rangers:

    7. Those are really nice models mate! I like the standard "red" color scheme for that army very much

I don't play much lately but I really like the army in that video

And the magus model is so awesome that I could not resist buying it in my last trip to my local game store :D

    8. Thanks:D Standard martian red, I love it!

Oh I have to buy him as well some day, but I have so many models to finish right now - and to be honest it will get even more soon:P

BUT - I have finished termies yesterday! I'm gonna eat something right now and after that I'll post them. I can say that I've painted 1/3 of my BaC content - 6 models (dread and termies) are complete and 12 (10 marines +2 hereoes) are yet to go. But now I'm taking a little break from my Iron Hands and I'll go back to my true love - Rubric Marines of Thousand Sons - I need to make 7 of them + sorcerer!

  5. Man you are so fast!!

The CSM sorcerer is another model that I like very much! I make him repent and start working as a Knorne disciple :D

    ReplyDelete
  6. But which Sorcerer?:D There are many different models out there :D

Khornate sorcerer... it's super heresy :P

I wanted to make them fast as long as I have time for that - I've decided to paint all of them at once and it is somehow quicker :)

    1. That's a good question indeed!

      This one: http://www.games-workshop.com/it-IT/Space-Marine-del-Caos-Stregone

But I will not using him as a sourcerer, I'm kinda using his body for a CSM Champion :D

That's someting I'd like to do too but I usually end up wasting time and painting anything ...
