Eldar Hemlock Wraithfighter progress 1

Next on my work table is the new Eldar Hemlock Wraithfighter!

I got almost all the bit and pieces cleaned up and I also started to glue some of the bits together. I plan to pin the weapons of I could swap them for gaming purpose (I actually plan to field it as a Crimson Hunter for now)

As you can see from the picture I put a bunch of green stuff here and there, mostly behind the weapons mounts to extend the "pinned" area. I also made a little base for the flying stand so the model will not move too much

In the last couple of day I also finalised how I'm gonna paint it: here is a sneak peak of THE PLAN!

Eldar Wraithknight: it is DONE ! - UPDATED

It is done!!!

After 25 long days my Wraithknight is complete! And lucky me I got him 2 days before release ...

Today I worked on the base and on the highlights on the black areas. I also did some edge highlights on him and let me be honest: I used the Edge paints I bought some times ago and the worked like a charm!

Now I only need to put the last gloss / matte protective coat and then I can move on to the Hemlock!

UPDATE: Here are some better pictures on the BigBoy:

Eldar Wraithknight progress 11

What a dirty boy! In the last couple of days I completed the shading process by applying an oil wash on the model. I used a 1:2 mix of Ivory Black and Dioxazine Purple

Here is him after I cleaned up the mess I made with the wash:

Now I'm left with only a couple of highlights to touch up, complete the gems and finalise the base and then he is done!

Do you guys think I should put some edge highlights in there?

Eldar Wraithknight progress 10

I'm starting to see the end of the tunnel here .. but there is still soo much to do. Today I worked on the Suncannon plates, the Scatter Laser, the shield and the hand. And I also repainted one of the back vanes that I damaged yesterday while putting the beast back in his cage ...

He kinda look more like a fencer than a gun platform but oh well ....

Plans for tomorrow: paint the back rune and clean up the mess I made on the Scatter Laser barrel. Hopefully complete the yellow bits on the hands

Eldar Wraithknight progress 9

Today I made good progress on the Wraithknight. Pretty much of the blue bits are done and I started to work on the gold ones. All the bits and piece are glued now, except the Suncannon barrel that is pinned

For the blue parts I used the following progression:
  • German Panzer Grey primer
  • a base coat of Vallejo Model Air (VMA from now on) Insigna Blue
  • first highlight of VMA Blue Angels
  • second highlight of VMA French Blue
  • final highlight of VMA Light Sea Blue

Tomorrow I'll probably complete the last few blue bits that are still missing and move on to highlight the gold (I already started on the head). And from there I'll move to highlight the black areas.. Still sooooo many things to do!

Eldar Wraithknight progress 8

A small update after tonight work:

All the supposed-to-be-black parts of the body are finally base coated and so I finally glued the beast together!

I also started to test out some ideas on the base ... we will see how that goes

Eldar Wraithknight progress 7

Tonight I completed the basecoat of the black areas of the legs and lower torso. After many many light coat of german grey and three hours of work I tool this picture and became very happy with my choice of colors

Eldar Wraithknight progress 6

Quick update for tonight: I washed the model all over with a very diluted mix of Glaze Medium and Golden Yellow to unify all the blendings:

Here is the BigBoy with the white tack removed. I really like the Yellow / Black contrast

Tomorrow night I'll put a gloss coat on and after that it's touch up time!

Eldar Wraithknight progress 5

Hi guys!
I started painting the Wraightknight a couple of days ago and today I mostly completed the main airbrush work on the yellow parts. What is left to do is to apply a light wash of the main colour to tie all the blending together

The last highlight is not really that bright in real life but the wash will attenuate it a bit more

For those interested, here are a few pics of the steps I followed to paint the yellow armour

1) I primed all the relevant pieces with a white primer. Those that are going to be black (or blue) were primed with a dark grey primer (Vallejo German Panzer Grey)

2) All the "yellow" pieces received a base coat of a 1:1 mix of Vallejo Model AIR Wood and Ochre

3) I glued together the legs bits and the torso and arms bits

4) The black areas were masked to prevent over spay

5) The mid-tone colour was applied leaving the base coat visible in the shadow areas. I used Vallejo Model AIR Gold Yellow

6) The first highlight was done with Vallejo Game Color Bald Moon Yellow. And it look like that I forgot to take a picture of this step ...

7) The final highlight was done with a 1:1 mix of Bald Moon Yellow and Vallejo Model Color Pale Sand

Tomorrow I'm going to apply a wash of Gold Yellow to the whole model and after that I'm going to seal it with a couple of coats of gloss varnish.

Before starting to paint the Wraightknight I made a couple of test on this couple of Guinea pigs:

Eldar Jetbike conversion WIP

Hi guys & gals!

The BigBoy assembly is completed finally and he is currently taking a bubble bath to get ready for priming. In the end I swapped the hands and he now look much better with the open hand on the shield arm and the closed fist on the Suncannon arm

While the Wraithknight is getting ready for painting I'd like to share another Eldar project I'm working with: a Jetbike conversion.

I really don't like the current (and very old) Harley-style bike and so I came up with a new version based on a mix of the old Eldar kit and the "new" Dark Eldar Reaver

As you can see I also converted a finecast Warlock to be my test raider: I think that Warlocks are going to be pretty useful to Jetbike units with the new Codex :)

The bike canopy is pointing a bit downward to keep the bike to look like too "high" like in the older model when the engine pods where hanging quite a bit lower than the canopy itself. For this reason I moved the Shuriken Catapults under the engine pods. The Shuriken Cannon upgrade will also be placed under one of the pods.

The Warlock is sitting straight on the bike (because he is a Old Wise Man) but for the Guardians (and maybe Shining Spears: they look quite nice in the new Codex) I plan to have them leaning forward like the current Dark Eldar Reaver pilots

Here are some pics of the bike without it's raider

What do you guys think?
