Today was a painting day: I've finally had time to paint a couple of test models for my pre-heresy Emperor's Children
Inspired from the illustration in the first Horus Heresy book, Betrayal, I wanted to get a metallic purple armor instead of the standard opaque version from Forge World
I'm not 100% sold on the steel helmet: I'll probably go with a metallic purple helmet with a golden mask
What do you guys think?

#quick-update: Betrayal at Calth Veteran Tactical Squads wip
Hi guys,
just a quick update to show the work so far on the tactical side of things
The 20 Emperor's Children marines are almost done, just the heads and backpacks are missing at the moment, along with a couple of options for the two Sergeants
I've replaced most of the standard torsos with the Forge World ones and used a bounce of old metal shoulder pads that I've bought long ago. This, and the fact that the 10 good guys are going to get Blood Angels shoulder pads, have give me access to the whole 12 studded pads of the set so I was able to use a studded pad for every marine with a studded leg
Speaking of the good guys, you can see them in the background awaiting for heads, pads and backpacks
All the models are based with only some minor detailing work left to do on the base themselves
If all goes according to plans, I will paint a test model for the EC this weekend :)

Betrayal at Calth: Cataphractii Terminators magnetized
Hi guys,
it was an hell of a job but I assembled and magnetised the 5 Cataphractii Terminators and all their weapon options:
This kit is awesome, many options full of details. The only problem is that it comes with only 5 pairs of shoulder pads
In the end, after many failed attempts, I pinned the shoulder pads to the arms:
As I was already working on Terminators I've cleaned up Captain Aethon and glued a couple of bits. The main body is keep together only by blue tack as I want to paint it in sub-assemblies (the same goes for the Terminators heads)
And now is time to move to the, ehm..., 30 Tactical Marines ^^;

Betrayal at Calth comptemptor assembled -ish
Hi there!
playing around with the comptemptor, it's pose and the base
I've cut out and repositioned the left left to make it look a bit more dynamic
The cast quality is good and I've found very few mould lines. It will need a bit of gap filling on the legs to hide the join lines
Next up? Probably the Terminators ;)
